Michael Carroll, our Calendar Maestro, in an inspired initiative, reached out to Tullamore Camera Club, wondering if the Club could provide photographs for the 2026 calendar. The Camera Club took up that challenge with gusto, producing 110 photographs and then the unenviable task of choosing 12 to suit each month, and also mindful of geographical spread around the
County.
The result is a brilliant collection of images that we can all relate to. There is also room in the Calendar to highlight fundraising events throughout 2025.
Offaly Hospice could not function without our wonderful volunteers, donors, and friends whose sole purpose is to gather funds together to help patients and families at a really difficult time in their lives.
Offaly Hospice has an agreement with the HSE to provide an annual contribution and in that way support the work of the local Community-based Palliative Care Service in so many different ways; Night Nursing, Complementary Therapies, Specialist Children’s Resources, Bereavement Pathway,
Training & Education etc.
The Community-based Home Care Team is all the more important at this time while we await developments in plans for the much-needed Midlands Regional Hospice earmarked for Tullamore.
In 2025, Offaly Hospice separately provided funds to both refurbish the Palliative Care Suite in Ofalia House, Edenderry, and enable an extensive upgrade of the garden and outdoor space adjoining the Palliative Care Suite at Birr Community Nursing Unit. These two projects have been a huge success, and
at the end of the day, it is all about Quality of Life.
Finally, sincere thanks to my fellow workers and volunteers in Offaly Hospice who give so much of their time and effort, particularly those who manage and look after Offaly Hospice Shop and Office and make it such a success.
